Q3: Data Centers Webinar Description
Data center development presents both opportunities and challenges for communities, states, and local governments. Join us for a panel discussion bringing together state and local government perspectives on how communities can engage effectively and constructively with data centers. Our speakers will share examples of tools, resources, and strategies for navigating these developments, drawing on their experiences and work in their respective states.

Abby Smith
President & CEO·Team Pennyslvania
Abby Smith is the President & CEO of Team Pennsylvania, a public-private partnership focused on accelerating inclusive economic growth across the Commonwealth. With a background in strategic collaboration and cross-sector leadership, she drives initiatives that foster innovation, strengthen industry ecosystems, and deliver long-term impact for communities across Pennsylvania. Abby's 20-year career includes high-level strategic planning and leading collaborations at the state level in Pennsylvania as well as in several other states, along with ample experience as a grant and project manager overseeing multi-million-dollar grants and serving on various state-level councils.
Karl Green
Community Planning Specialist·UW Madison Division of Extension Community Development Institute
Karl Green is a Community Planning Specialist for the UW Madison Division of Extension Community Development Institute. In this role, Karl helps communities and community members learn about and decide on large-scale land use changes potentially impacting their communities. Through this position, Karl brings University resources, as well as vetted research on a variety of community land use issues affecting local communities. Previously, Karl was the Program Manager for UW Extension’s Local Government Education program, a role he served in Since January 2022. In this role Karl and his LGE team developed and provided Local Government educational resources for towns, villages, cities and counties.
