Dovetail Partners seeks Applicants for Georgia-Pacific Research Internships

Dovetail Partners is seeking applicants for 2022 internship positions being offered with the generous support of Georgia-Pacific.  One position will support research related to sustainable forestry management, including assisting in a survey of forest managers to gain insights into experiences and knowledge related to logging/harvest operations and also engagement with county-forest managers.  The second position will provide project support for Fire Adapted Communities, Firewise activities, and wildfire risk mitigation in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota.  Both internship positions can be done remotely.


Georgia-Pacific Research Internship:  Sustainable Forest Management

Applications due: 12/01/2021

Estimated project period: Jan – June 2022 (start and end dates are flexible)

Estimated hours: 10-20 per week (negotiable)

Compensation: Internship Stipend of $500 per month

Research intern will support development and completion of a survey of foresters practicing across the US.  The survey with gather insights, experiences, and identified priorities related to logger capacities, including recruitment and retention needs and key factors for supporting quality logging/harvesting operations.  The intern will also engage with county-forest managers in Minnesota and Wisconsin to examine responsible community forest management in the Lake States. Applicants with forestry related education, training or experience as well as survey and analysis experience are desired. To apply, please submit a current resume and cover letter describing relevant experience, interests, and ideas for the project to info@dovetailinc.org .  Include “Sustainable Forest Management Internship” in the subject line and please include information about availability (start/end dates and hours/week).  Position can be done remotely.

Research intern will support activities related to expanding Firewise practices and Fire Adapted Community strategies throughout the Arrowhead region of Minnesota and in collaboration with the nationwide Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network.  Activities are anticipated to include communications support (i.e., website, newsletter, news release, social media, and public service announcements) as well as assistance with planning and delivery of workshops and other events (virtual and in-person as conditions allow).  Applicants with communications, outreach, and community engagement experience are desired.
