DOVETAIL WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER
Alyssa Hartman brings expertise in food systems and regenerative agriculture
MINNEAPOLIS, MN— Dovetail Partners Inc. is pleased to welcome Alyssa Hartman, Executive Director of the Artisan Grain Collaborative (AGC) to the Board of Directors. Dovetail Partners is a member of the AGC and Hartman’s participation on the Board will further strengthen this partnership. AGC works throughout the Midwest and their mission is “to create a diverse regional grainshed built upon regenerative agriculture practices that steward the health of communities, local economies, and natural resources.”
“We are thrilled to have Alyssa join our Board. Her expertise in agriculture and local food systems will be invaluable as Dovetail builds and expands our portfolio of research on the environmental impacts of agricultural land use and policy initiatives,” says Ashley McFarland, Dovetail executive director. “I have had the great pleasure to work with Alyssa over the past year and believe she will greatly broaden our network as we dive deeper into regenerative agriculture issues.”
Before joining AGC in August 2019, Hartman worked on various family farms throughout the Midwest, in Hawaii, and internationally. She is an experienced environmental organizer leading campaigns related to advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental policies, and she directed a canvass office for Environment Michigan. Hartman also spent several years working in institutional procurement, including getting more locally grown foods into schools, hospitals, colleges, and correctional facilities. She holds a Bachelor of Science in natural resources and environmental management from Ball State University and a Masters of Food and Agriculture Law and Policy from Vermont Law School.
“I am truly honored to serve as a Dovetail board member,” says Hartman. “Dovetail’s work plays a critical role in bringing scientific acumen and research to find solutions to pressing environmental problems, and I look forward to bringing the perspectives of the network of farmers, food processors, and other stakeholders with whom I have the pleasure of working to Dovetail's agricultural research and initiatives."
